December 16, 2010Darrin Horn met with the media on Thursday to preview South Carolina's game at No. 2 Ohio State on Saturday. The details:
* The Gamecocks are rested after a week-long break since their last game (and only one game over the past two weeks). This time of year, when there are no classes or exams to worry about, is a time for "just basketball." USC has been doing a bit more film study, a bit more skill work, a bit more of a lot of things that there simply wasn't time for before.
* The Buckeyes, naturally, are expected to be handful. Horn said it's as important for all players to do what they can do as it is for all players to concentrate on shutting down OSU. A matchup of say, Sam Muldrow vs. Jared Sullinger, doesn't necessarily have to be the focal point of a USC plan to victory.
* Horn feels confident that the Gamecocks have more than handled themselves well during their other two road games, at Michigan State and at Western Kentucky. They were each hostile environments and the team should be far past any intimidation factor from the gym or opponent ranking.
* This is the kind of game a young team like USC has wanted to play. Not only for being the opponent of the second-ranked team in the nation, but for being USC, a team that is challenging the second-ranked team in the nation.
