October 14, 2011Stacey Bedell is off to an insane start in his senior season as the Mastic Beach (N.Y.) William Floyd running back is on pace to break the 2,000 rushing yard barrier this season and it's caught the attention of college coaches.
Boston College is one of the latest schools to show interest in Bedell, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound running back who has 1,053 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on 64 carries through five games this season.
William Floyd is 4-1.
"I'm happy with how I'm playing so far," Bedell said. "We're off to a good start this year and I've improved from last year."
So far, Army, Fordham, New Hampshire and Villanova have offered Bedell but he said he's waiting things out in his recruitment and wants to see if other colleges get involved - especially since he's putting up such huge numbers.
Boston College has gotten involved but Bedell said he still doesn't know too much about the Eagles. Bedell believes his coaches have talked to some BC assistant coaches in the last week or so.
He's taking things slow since the two-star recruit by Rivals.com hasn't even set any official visits yet.
In his junior season, Bedell rushed for 1,658 yards and 16 touchdowns on 208 carries so he's on pace to far surpass those numbers.
To put things in perspective, on 144 fewer carries he has already equaled his touchdown numbers from last season. Bedell is about 500 yards from reaching the same totals, too, which is impressive since he's averaging more than 16 yards per carry.
"The offensive line is doing a good job this year and I got better in the off-season improving my strength, my speed and my versatility," Bedell said.
"I'm waiting it out right now."
