South Carolina practiced Wednesday evening at the Bluff Road Proving Grounds and Gamecock Central was there. A complete practice report with video will follow shortly.
The biggest news out of camp was the return to practice of offensive tackle Cody Gibson. Gibson was injured in the first week of fall camp and hasn't seen the field since. Offensive line coach Shawn Elliott did not rule out Gibson seeing snaps against Georgia in Saturday, saying "if he can practice, he can play."
Elliott reiterated that Clayton Stadnik would start at center if Cody Waldrop, who was still in a boot and on crutches Wednesday, couldn't play by Saturday.
Connor Shaw said he knows he has to perform better on the road and added that he never considered going to UGA out of high school and grew up cheering for Florida.
Victor Hampton practiced normally Wednesday a day after defensive backs coach Grady Brown talked about Hampton being a bit dinged up after taking several big hits in the return game against North Carolina.
Everette Sands said he was pleased with his running backs' effort on Thursday and said Brandon Wilds and Mike Davis are eager to prove USC's backfield is as good as Georgia's.
Shaq Roland said his approach is different this year to the game, that he's more focused and relying less on his athleticism than he did a year ago.
ESPN's Holly Rowe and Todd Blackledge were at practice. Blackledge told reporters afterward he expects "a war" in Athens, that the Bulldogs will be coming out with their back to the walls and that they will be improved, trotting out the old adage of team's improving the most from week one to week two.
INJURY REPORT: Missing practice or in yellow jerseys Wednesday were Waldrop, Kadetrix Marcus (dislocated shoulder), Carlton Heard (hamstring), Devin Washington (concussion), Gerald Turner (ankle sprain), James King (right foot), Mike Matulis (shoulder) and Kyle Morini (dislocated elbow).
UP NEXT: South Carolina will practice tomorrow night at the Bluff Road Proving Grounds.
