South Carolina practiced Thursday evening at the Bluff Road Proving Grounds and Gamecock Central was there. A complete practice report with video will follow shortly.
Defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward likened Georgia running back Todd Gurley to Herschel Walker in terms of size and speed, saying he was "bigger, stronger and faster" than he was a year ago when he was stifled by South Carolina as a true freshman.
Ward said Victor Hampton would not start at cornerback and that Ahmad Christian would take his place. He said Hampton would not be handling punt or kickoff return duties Saturday. He said Bruce Ellington would return punts, but didn't know who would return kickoffs.
On the injury front, Ward said reserves Kyle Morini and James King have returned to practice. Ward said freshman Devin Washington (concussion) remains out but is likely to come back very soon.
Ward said linebacker Cedrick Cooper, who returned to practice Saturday after missing almost the entire preseason and opening game, is traveling and will play against Georgia.
INJURY REPORT: Missing practice or in yellow jerseys Wednesday were Cody Waldrop, Kadetrix Marcus (dislocated shoulder), Carlton Heard (hamstring), Devin Washington (concussion), Gerald Turner (ankle sprain) and Mike Matulis (shoulder).
UP NEXT: South Carolina will conduct a walk-through at Williams-Brice Stadium tomorrow before leaving for Athens.
