South Carolina practiced Tuesday evening at the Bluff Road Proving Grounds and Gamecock Central was there. A complete practice report with video will follow shortly.
Victor Hampton did not practice Tuesday, though he practiced Monday. On Tuesday he was on a cart at the end of practice having his ankle worked on and defensive backs coach Grady Brown said he was still banged-up from the North Carolina game.
Brown also said with Hampton not 100-percent, reserve cornerbacks Jamari Smith, Roci McWilliams and Ronnie Martin need to be on alert that they could see significant playing time if the performances by those ahead of them does not improve over what he saw against Georgia.
Strong safety Kadetrix Marcus, injured in the season opener, practiced Tuesday and should be ready to play Saturday against Vanderbilt.
Defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles said there was no excuse for how poorly the defensive line played against Georgia and that the defense had a "deer in headlights" look the entire game. He said the team has been practicing with a much different intensity this week.
Middle linebacker Kaiwan Lewis said the main problem against Georgia was not getting the signals in to the players on the field from the sidelines in time, leading to bad alignments and missed assignments.
INJURY REPORT: Missing practice or in yellow jerseys Tuesday were Cody Waldrop, Carlton Heard (hamstring), Devin Washington (concussion), Gerald Turner (ankle sprain) and Mike Matulis (shoulder).
UP NEXT: South Carolina will practice tomorrow night at the Bluff Road Proving Grounds.
