Quick practice recap
South Carolina practiced Wednesday afternoon at the Bluff Road Proving Grounds and Gamecock Central was there. A complete practice report with video will follow shortly.
Steve Spurrier said he expects a full house making lots of noise on hand Saturday night to give USC the home-field advantage that has been so critical to the Gamecocks' success, adding that he's been pleased with the practices so far this week and that sometimes a team needs a good whipping to achieve what it's capable of.
Running backs coach Everette Sands said that barring injury, freshman running back David Williams is headed for a redshirt year.
Victor Hampton was in a yellow jersey and did not practice on Wednesday, the second day in a row that he's missed.
Cody Waldrop saw a specialist for his foot and the result was that no major surgery will be needed, it just needs to heal over the next few weeks.
Offensive line coach Shawn Elliott said he was pleased with the play of center Clayton Stadnik in Waldrop's place. When asked whether Stadnik was scared, Elliott said "as scared as a house cat in a room full of rocking chairs," which was precisely how he should have been in that environment.
INJURY REPORT: Missing practice or in yellow jerseys Tuesday were Hampton, Waldrop, Carlton Heard (hamstring), Devin Washington (concussion) and Mike Matulis (shoulder).
UP NEXT: South Carolina will practice tomorrow night at the Bluff Road Proving Grounds.
