Quick practice recap
Video courtesy of News19 WLTX:
No. 13 South Carolina practiced Tuesday afternoon at Williams-Brice Stadium and Gamecock Central was there. A complete practice report with video will follow shortly.
Jadeveon Clowney said he was committed to the team this season and that he will travel to Arkansas but is questionable to play. He said he doesn't care what people think of him and that's he still sore with a strained muscle.
Clowney agreed with Steve Spurrier's assessment earlier in the day that the whole thing could have been handled better, including him communicating with the trainer sooner. He said he's receiving treatment twice a day, has played through pain before and is eager to return to the field.
T.J. Holloman said he's playing at Mike (middle) linebacker with the leg infection suffered by Kaiwan Lewis that has held Lewis out of practice this week. He also said he was looking forward to playing a running team and that the defense has practiced a great deal against a two-back offense.
Defensive backs coach Grady Brown said there have been "a lot of failures" in the fourth quarter this season, adding that it's felt like Einstein's definition of insanity, which is to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. The new approach is a change of personnel, but he said precisely who that would be would be determined by how certain players practiced this week. He did say there was an excellent chance that backups Rico McWilliams and Jamari Smith could see significant action.
Defensive line coach Deke Adams said Clowney has handled the situation since Saturday very well. He said fans and the media don't know what's going on behind the scenes, and he knows for a fact that Clowney really was sick and had injuries as he said he's had. He also said he was surprised at the amount of negative national attention Clowney has received.
INJURY REPORT: Missing practice or in yellow jerseys Tuesday were Jadeveon Clowney (rib muscle), Devin Washington (concussion), Kaiwan Lewis (infection) and Mike Matulis (shoulder)
UP NEXT: South Carolina will practice tomorrow (Wednesday).
