Steve Spurrier held his weekly press conference on Tuesday to discuss the Missouri game:
Missouri has caught everybody off guard with how well they've done. They're in good shape. But USC will be in good shape if they win.
"Good football weather" is expected.
Mizzou has fastest defense USC has faced this season
Dylan Thompson will definitely start at QB. Shaw could go on trip and be the backup if he's healthy enough.
Doctors say Shaw could be 100 pct in 2-3 weeks.
Kelcy Quarles is doubtful for game. Defense must play well. Mizzou averaging 44.3 ppg. They have scored 36+ pts in every game.
SOS says holding call on Gurley on KO return last week was "iffy."
SOS says USC has "flirted with disaster" in several games this season, but it didn't work out last game.
Thompson should be ready to play.
Will Sport played 'OK' at UT in place of Patrick.
SOS says sometimes he thinks USC is "wasting its time" practicing special teams considering all the problems.
Targeting rule - SOS says he told Kadetrix Marcus that you can't strike another player helmet-to-helmet. Must teach players to hit lower.
Mizzou running same offense with backup QB. Throwing the ball down the field and letting their big WRs go get the ball.
Mizzou pass rush - very active. Lead SEC in sacks. "They don't have any fat guys on defensive line." Very quick. Mizzou also has the most INTs in SEC - effect of good pass rush?
Clowney was very active last week. Feels like things have calmed down around JC.
