No. 20 South Carolina practiced Tuesday afternoon at the Bluff Road Proving Grounds and Gamecock Central was there. A complete practice report with video will follow shortly.
Freshman safety Chaz Elder was in a yellow jersey Tuesday as he recovers from a concussion but is expected to play this weekend, according to defensive backs coach Grady Brown. Brown, who was down to his third-string free safety on Saturday when Kadetrix Marcus was ejected, said reserve Chris Moody played as well as he could have been expected to against the Volunteers given his limited reps in practice to that point.
Brown also said he wished Ahmad Christian could have raked his arm on the long completion to UT's Marquez North that helped send the Vols to victory in the fourth quarter. He said as a defensive back, you have to do "whatever it takes," including drawing a penalty or knocking him out of bounds, to prevent that catch.
Connor Shaw was not in a yellow jersey and practiced Monday, though Steve Spurrier said earlier in the day that Shaw wouldn't be able to run around on his sprained knee until later in the week and was doubtful to contribute this weekend at Missouri.
Defensive line coach Deke Adams said he wasn't sure if Kelcy Quarles, who didn't practice and was in a yellow jersey Tuesday, would play, though he hoped he would be able to by Saturday. He also said Jadeveon Clowney is playing his best football right now.
INJURY REPORT: Missing practice or in yellow jerseys Tuesday were Chaz Elder (concussion), Kelcy Quarles (knee sprain), Gerald Dixon Jr. (knee sprain), Ronald Patrick (knee sprain), Cody Waldrop (ankle)Devin Washington (concussion), and Mike Matulis (shoulder).
