"I couldn't agree more. IMO, that mindset comes from having been so mediocre for so long. It's bred a persecution complex, as well as a tendency to pay an inordinate amount of attention to trivialities that have nothing to do with winning.
Fortunately, our coach is a bona fide winner who sees how self-destructive that mindset is, and is doing everything he can to combat it."

This is the best post I have read on this board. I am thinking of putting it into my signature. I never could put my finger on it before, but this is right. When I read all of those posts on uniforms and fight songs I never understood, but you hit it. Thanks.
