Army offers and Bedell is very interested

There are several adjectives that one could use to describe running back Stacey Bedell … ranging from explosive to elusive, all of which are exactly what Army Head Coach Rich Ellerson would love to have added to his offensive arsenal and the Black Knights' 2012 recruiting class.

So it was no surprise that the Army staff did not hesitate to extend an offer to the prospect out of Mastic Beach (NY) William Floyd High School once that saw the highlights of what the speedy back could do on the field, as well as what he has accomplished in the classroom.

The combination of his 3.52 GPA, to go along with his 1,658 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns was evidence enough for the Black Knights. Not to mention his 12 receptions, 177 yards and 2 touchdowns, which round out his 2010 offensive resume. While on defense, he compiled 105 total tackles and two interceptions where he played free safety.

But Bedell is more than ecstatic about pulling in the offer from Army, as he shared with "I picked up my first offer and that was from Army yesterday … I'm very excited," the 5-foot-10, 174 pound prospect shared on Thursday.

"Coach Tripp came to my school yesterday (Wednesday) and this was the first that I had heard from Army, so I was very surprised. He was talking to me talking about the program and West Point. My coach took him back to the middle school where my coach works at and showed him my highlight tape. My coach said he left the room and Coach Tripp called the head coach (Rich Ellerson) and told him about me or to watch it on Youtube."

"Then he offered me right there ... I was very excited," claims Bedell. Yes, I plan on visiting there and I'm very interested in Army. He told me about the offense they run and the experience of attending West Point."

Speaking of visiting, Bedell has already been busy making his rounds this spring and although he has confirmed where he will be camping this summer, if spring is any indicator, he will be on the summer camp circuit.

"I haven't decided which camps I will be attending," but I attended a Rutgers' spring practice twice, UConn's Junior Day and spring game, along with Junior Days at Syracuse, Buffalo and Maryland," says Bedell.
It also appears that Bedell's recruiting is starting to pick up, with several schools making their way to William Floyd High School.

"Virginia came by the school today," says the New York prospect. "Their running back coach was in and said he wanted to show my film to the staff and see if they like it.

UConn wanted to see me at camp and they said they are taking three running backs this year and Rutgers, they keep telling my coach they are going to offer me, but they haven't yet. Bowling Green said they are interested, but want to see me at their game and Maine came in today, but they said they don't offer this early."

Bedell turned his attention back to the Black Knights' offer. "Me and my dad, along with my coach are very excited about being offered by Army. I was telling everybody about my first offer. My dad asked me what my thoughts were about the offer and he said is an outstanding education (West Point)."
Bedell has not shunned his responsibility as a member of his school's team that went 9-3 played in the Long Island (NY) Championship, although they were defeated in the ball game. He is working hard to prepare for the 2011 season and is optimistic about his team's chances.

"Right now I'm training with an NFL player name, Hasim Isam, who is going back to the Cardinals this year," he says.

"Our team should be great this and we have everyone coming back from our team that went to the championship last year.
Bedell ran a 4.42 last summer at Pitt, which is evident in his highlight video. will continue to follow Stacey Bedell's recruiting up throughout the summer and into his senior season.
