BC makes late push for athlete

Stacey Bedell probably thought the recruiting process was done and behind him. Then he picked up two new offers.

The James Madison commitment recently picked up offers from two schools that had been talking to him and evaluating him for a while.

"Boston College and UMass just offered me," Bedell told EagleAction.com late this week.

"I was happy about both offers. Boston College is a great school academically and football-wise. I've been in a lot of contact with them."

Bedell, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete from Mastic Beach (N.Y.) William Floyd, has never visited BC and he doesn't think he needs to check the school out to give them a fair shot.

"I don't think I need to go because I basically know how the school is by doing my research. I know what a great academic school it is and that they have a good football team.

"I was going to camp there in the summer but I couldn't because of my ankle."

Bedell said the Eagles have offered him as an athlete but the coaches haven't told him what position he would be starting out at specifically.

Is he leaning towards any school at this point?

"I'm still thinking about everything. I'm going to do my homework. I'm going up there for a visit to UMass this weekend. I'll have a decision on Signing Day."
