Pharoah McKever plans return visit to NC State

One of the more intriguing prospects in the state of North Carolina is athlete Pharoah McKever from South Columbus High in Tabor City, N.C. The Shrine Bowl combine last Saturday at South Johnston High in Four Oaks, N.C., confirmed that.

He checked in at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, and then ran the 40-yard dash in 4.76 seconds on a slick, wet track during a morning dominated by spotty rain showers that were heavy at times. He also had a 4.81-second shuttle mark.

He did 10 bench reps at 185 pounds and had a 28-inch vertical leap. When combined with McKever's lengthy reach, he was able to hit the 10-foot, 9-inch mark on the tape measure.

"I think I did pretty good," McKever said. "I came out here kind of nervous but have settled down. I think I did okay."
