Spartans land top Chicago DT

When Defensive Line Coach Ron Burton was hired at Michigan State University he immediately started recruiting and one of the first people he made sure to contact was Enoch Smith Jr of Mt. Carmel High School in Illinois. Earlier today the 6-foot-3, 265-pound prospects made a commitment to the Michigan State Spartans.

Smith Jr. posted the following on Twitter and Facebook:

"As of right now and forever I am a Michigan State Spartan!!!!!"

Smith is rated a 5.7 3-star recruit by Rivals.com and the #27 defensive tackle prospect in the nation for the class of 2014. He selected Michigan State over a host of offers including schools such as Illinois, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Arizona and a dozen others. Smith is the 2nd commitment of the day, joining Brian Allen of Illinois.

SpartanMag.com will have more on Smith's commitment in the near future.
