Spartans get commitment from prized JUCO Tackle

Michigan State addressed the immediate need for a physically mature offensive tackle to fill the shoes of two-year-starter Fou Fonoti with the commitment of 6-foot-6, 280-pound City College of San Francisco offensive tackle David Hedelin.

The Swedish-born athlete selected Michigan State over Oregon State. He also considered Arizona and Arizona State.

Hedelin made the decision to join Mark Dantonio's program while home in Sweden according to his position coach Eduardo Nuno.

"David told me on Facebook, probably about two hours ago: 'Coach, I want to let you know I committed to Michigan State today," said Nuno on Sunday afternoon. "I felt like that was the best fit for me. I really liked Oregon State and it was between those two. My heart said Michigan State, so I wanted to end this and not waste anyone's time."

Hedelin is ranked the No. 8 junior college offensive lineman in the nation by Rivals.com and was the No. 2 uncommitted junior college offensive lineman in the country prior to his commitment to Michigan State.
