Sneak Peek: One to watch in 2009

Not only were we on the road this spring looking at the top prospects in the class of 2008, but we were getting a head start for the class of 2009. Devonte Holloman looks to be one of the top prospects in North Carolina today, but he still has two years left at Independence. Schools have already offered this junior to be and you can get a Sneak Peek at his ability here.

Prospect: Devonte Holloman

High School: Independence (Charlotte, N.C.)

Class: 2009

Position: Linebacker / Safety

Vitals: 6-2, 205-pounds, 4.5

Offers: Clemson, Georgia, Maryland, N.C. State

Favorites: Open, but has mentioned Clemson and Georgia as his favorites in the past.

The Skinny: A long athlete that has a lot of room to grow. He currently stands at 6-foot-2, but plays extremely bigger with his long arms. His weight is around 205-pounds, but he could easily add about 20-pounds and keep his speed. He is a safety now, but looks like an outside linebacker on the next level. He can cover, he can hit, he can play the run and he will be one of the best in the Tarheel State over the next two years.

We traveled up to Charlotte this spring to get a look at Holloman and his teammate Makiri Pugh. They are not allowed to practice in pads, but you can see Holloman's size, athleticism and his ability to cover in this video.
