Media Days Notebook: USC closes practice


Modern technology being what it is, the current trend in college football among head coaches is to close practices to the public to avoid having too much information available.

One of the last holdouts was South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier, who opened the first two weeks of fall practice last year to the public before closing the gates.

But now he's joining the majority.

Spurrier announced Wednesday at SEC Media Days that USC will close all of its fall practices except, possibly, for a couple of scrimmages scheduled for Aug. 11 and 18. Both scrimmages are scheduled to start at 4:15 p.m.
