Scouting the prospects: Hampton Phoebus at Oscar Smith

CHESAPEAKE, has been football-scrimmage-hopping to scout several of the top West Virginia University high-school prospects, who either have committed to the nation's 8th-ranked program, or are undeclared. Last Wednesday, it visited Hampton Phoebus' scrimmage at Oscar Smith.

Nowhere in Virginia this fall will there be as many Division I-A recruits on the field at the same times as the seven football players who have already committed to BCS schools scrimmaged at Beard-DeLong-Easley Field. They were: Phoebus Phantoms' QB Tajh Boyd, NT Dominik Davenport, RB Shawne Alston (West Virginia), LoVante' Battle (Virginia) and Oscar Smith's LB Perry Jones (Virginia), LB Jerod Askew, and WR-KR Tim Smith (both of whom are undeclared). These were paired with OSHS QB Phillip Sims ('10), who will probably be the No. 1 prospect in the Old Dominion in the fall of 2009.
