Bond turns attention to recruiting

Bertie high school made an early exit from the playoffs falling in the opening round, which means the high school career of highly touted offensive lineman Travis Bond is over.

That's unfortunate for the Falcons' faithful, but now the massive tackle can turn all of his attention to picking the campus in which he will spend the next four years.

"I'm glad I can focus on recruiting," Bond said.

At seasons end Bond didn't have any new offers, but his list still remains pretty impressive. Currently East Carolina, North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forrest, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Michigan top the list of top notch programs attempting to land the services on the big man.

At this time Bond said he is keeping an open mind.

"No favorites right now," Bond said.

Even though his high school career ended this past Friday, the 6-7, 300 plus pound big man is wasting no time getting on the visit circuit.

Bond said he had a visit set up at Virginia Tech this weekend, N.C State the 29th and a visit locked up in Chapel Hill next month.

Bond said he already went to a UNC game this season and has also taken in a few ECU games in the past as well as attended a camp there.

"It went well," he said about the game and the camp.

Even though no school is leading the pack right now, Bond said it won't be long before he cuts the list a little shorter.

"I'm going to narrow it down in December."

When he makes the visits the big man from Windsor already knows what's important to him when picking a school.

"A good education and how well the coaches fit the style of my play," he said, adding "also how I interact with the players."
