Recruits React to Florida's fast start
#14 Florida's big win this past Saturday over Tennessee in Knoxville has turned quite a few heads around the nation. What are Class of 2013 prospects thinking of the Gators season to date? Inside the Gators caught up with a few commitments to see what they thought about the hot start, Will Muschamp and what's going on at their respective positions.
Many didn't see the Gators being 3-0 at this point, what are your thoughts with how they have fared this season?
Four-star defensive lineman Joey Ivie: "Watching the games and listening to what the coaches have been saying, I feel Florida has a lot of potential right now and a lot of the players are young and played decent in the first half and then come out in the second half and started turning it up. Whatever they're doing is working right now."
Rivals250 safety Nick Washington: "I love it, and really love watching us do well and want to stop all the doubting. Just like yesterday (Saturday) I think every announcer except for like one picked Tennessee to beat us. I'm just glad we pulled it out and maybe we can stop all the hating."
Three-star running back Adam Lane: "I'm not really surprised at all. I think Coach Muschamp had a vision on where he wanted the team to be and they have done well. This season they have an overall better chance on getting back to where Florida was in the past."
Three-star offensive lineman Cameron Dillard: "I know people were saying there's no way Florida can go 3-0, but I have been very impressed with what Coach Muschamp has done with his team so far this season and what Coach [Tim] Davis has done with the offensive line and think he's done great with them."
What did you think of the game this past weekend?
Ivie: "That stadium was pretty wild for the game and I saw Coach Muschamp fired up on the sidelines. Florida has been good in the second half, not only the Tennessee game, but the first three games this season."
Washington: "In the first half Tennessee had those wide receivers that were really good and the defense really looked like they needed to step it up. The defensive backs had their hands on a lot of passes, but just couldn't come down with any. After the half we really stepped it up but, that's really how its been the past two games."
Lane: "I thought it was a really big win and thought the team came out and just did what they should have done and kept that streak alive against Tennessee. I am looking forward to trying to keep it going when I get on campus."
Dillard: "You can tell how much the line has gotten better as a whole from the first game to the game the other night against Tennessee. When I was down at UF over the summer me and Coach Davis went over a few plays and it was cool because I noticed them when I was watching the game."
What have you noticed about your future position in the first few games Florida has played this season?
Ivie: "They have been getting a lot of pressure and honestly when I was at the Bowling Green game I was not expecting the line to be a solid as they have been so far. That was just the first game and they have come a long way from there."
Washington: "I always watch Marcus Roberson, Josh Evans, and Matt Elam all three of those guys I keep my eye on every play they did really well in the second half and were all showing out."
Lane: "I have been watching the running backs and really like that I see, Mike [Gillislee] has been really good, but I also notice Matt Jones too. I mean he is a true freshman that is already on the field contributing and who knows that could be me next year."
Dillard: "The line is really starting to mesh better as a unit and have been blocking better, but Coach Davis has told me to watch them and its really helped my trust with the coaches. You can tell they are true to their word and they are going to do big things this year."
