Quick practice recap

No. 12 South Carolina practiced Tuesday night and Gamecock Central was there. A complete practice report will follow shortly.

The highlights:

Defensive lineman Kelcy Quarles was in a yellow jersey Tuesday and said it was because of headaches he's been suffering due to leading with his helmet too much when tackling. He and position coach Deke Adams both said he had not suffered a concussion.

Quarles said he's going to be pulling for Mississippi against Missouri this weekend because he wants the chance to play Alabama, to the No. 1 team in the nation.

Adams said that the defensive line as a whole is pretty banged-up following the Florida game but should be ready and at full strength for Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

Linebacker Cedrick Cooper was in a yellow jersey with a groin sprain he suffered in practice Monday night, position coach Kirk Botkin said. He is expected to return to practice this week and be available Saturday.

Spur Sharrod Golightly said the team is taking Coastal Carolina seriously and isn't overlooking them with the Clemson game the following week. He said Coastal presents a great opportunity to gain momentum for the team.

INJURY REPORT: Missing practice or in yellow jerseys Tuesday besides Quarles and Cooper were Mike Davis (ankle/ribs), Brandon Wilds (hamstring), Devin Washington (concussion) and Mike Matulis (shoulder).

UP NEXT: South Carolina will practice tomorrow afternoon.
