Game balls, Injury report
Connor Shaw: All No. 12 USC had to do for Shaw to get a game ball was win, since the victory puts Shaw No. 1 all-time in wins at South Carolina with 25 in his career, beating the previous mark of 24 held by Todd Ellis.
Dylan Thompson: In his first significant action in weeks, Thompson responded by throwing a touchdown pass on his first attempt and finished 8-of-11 for 140 yards and two touchdowns.
Sharrod Golightly: Golightly's first-quarter fumble recovery and return helped spark the rout and was just the fourth lost fumble by the Chanticleers all season. CCU's three lost fumbles coming into the game was the lowest in the FCS.
Jamari Smith: The freshman from Jacksonville, in as the No. 2 running back with the injuries to Mike Davis and Brandon Wilds, scored his first career touchdown in the first quarter on a three-yard run. The No. 1 back, Shon Carson, has yet to score a touchdown in his USC career.
USC defensive line: With Kelcy Quarles on the bench, Phillip Dukes started in his place and he, J.T. Surratt and Chaz Sutton and Jadeveon Clowney stuffed Coastal's vaunted rushing attack to the tune of just 12 rushing yards in the first quarter, which was the first time all season the Chanticleers were held scoreless.
Pharoh Cooper: Another player who notched his first career touchdown Saturday on an 180-yard catch from Dylan Thompson in the second quarter. He added his second in the third quarter on an electrifying 71-yard touchdown run.
Shon Carson: The final player to record his first career touchdown on Saturday, Carson's 1-yard run made it 63-7 with 2:28 left to play in the third quarter.
Kaiwan Lewis limped off the field after South Carolina punted just before halftime and had his left knee worked on briefly before returning.
No other Gamecocks were injured Saturday, and coach Steve Spurrier said in his press conference that Kelcy Quarles was likely to play against Clemson.
