Kershaw's Corner: Clemson

Carolina vs. Clemson
* Clemson leads the overall series 170-131-2.
* The Gamecocks have won eight of the last 11 against Clemson.
* USC won two out of three against the Tigers in 2013. Their two wins were shutouts (6-0 in Clemson and 8-0 in Columbia) while Clemson's only win was a 6-3 victory on Saturday in Greenville.
* USC won four out of five against Clemson in 2012 and two out of three in 2011.
* Five of the 11 games were decided by one run. Carolina won four of those five.

Carolina's Two Wins in 2013 Over Clemson
* The two wins for the Gamecocks over the Tigers in 2013 were both shutouts.
* The USC starting pitchers had at least seven strike outs and pitched at least eight innings. Montgomery pitched eight striking out nine while Belcher pitched a complete game shutout and struck out seven.
* The Gamecocks allowed three hits in both wins.

Patience
* USC did not score a run in the first three innings against the Tigers in the three games last season.

* USC has won 27 straight games at Carolina Stadium against non-conference opponents. That includes the 2013 Columbia Regional. The last loss at Carolina Stadium for the Gamecocks against a non-conference opponent was against Liberty on February 17, 2013. Liberty defeated Carolina 3-2 in a seven inning game.
* USC has nine shutouts in the 27 games.
* Carolina has allowed four runs or less in 23 of the 27 games.
