Big South Freshman of the Year to join Carolina program

Former Byrnes standout defensive back Jaylan Foster announced on Christmas his intentions to transfer from Gardner Webb to South Carolina.

"I always wanted to play for a school in-state and I didn't get that chance out of high school but I kept believing," the 6-foot, 190-pound Foster told Gamecock Central. "And I thought that the scheme of the defense fit me real well."

A former Shrine Bowl participant, Foster was named Big South Freshman of the Year when he collected 45 tackles and five interceptions this past season.

Foster will sit out this season due to NCAA rule and redshirt before having three seasons to play at South Carolina.
