The news was confirmed with Thomas by Miami Herald recruiting writer and CaneSports.com contributor David Furones, and a Miami Central source confirmed with GamecockCentral.com.
The 6-foot-1, 245-pounder picked the Gamecocks over offers from Arkansas and Tennessee. The former Florida State pledge also carried offers from Alabama, Auburn, South Florida, UCF, and West Virginia, among others.
Ranked as the nation's 22nd-best strongside defensive end prospect, Rivals.com has issued Thomas a 5.7 three-star marker.
