Rock Hill (SC) South Pointe defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, the nation's number one player, visited South Carolina unofficially on Saturday and returned Sunday for the HSSR Media Day, where GamecockCentral.com caught up with him.

The five-star standout has turned his focus during the summer months to his South Pointe squad, in hopes of making a run to the state championship.
"I haven't really been worrying about recruiting," he said on Sunday. "I've been lifting weights and getting ready for this season."
Clowney, who said that he has put on fifteen pounds and is now over 250 pounds, made an unofficial visit to South Carolina yesterday.
"I've been down here like four or five times, so it really wasn't for me, it was for my mom because she had never seen the place," he said.
The stud defender said that his mother liked what she saw in Columbia.
"She told me she liked it," he said. "They graduate their student-athletes so that's a big thing. (We saw) the new one (academic center) they just built."
He talked about the pitch of veteran assistant and recruiter Ellis Johnson.
"He was just like, he's going to keep coming after me and try to get me to come there as much as possible."
Clowney said that he did not have any more visits planned for the summer, but that he may take in some games during the football season.
Who is atop the pecking order for the edge-rushing terror?
"I really don't have a leader," he said. "It's like South Carolina, Alabama, and LSU. Alabama and South Carolina really stand out."
A few factors will play into Clowney's decision the most, a decision that will not come any time soon.
"I'm going to wait it out after I take my visits," he said. "I'm looking for somewhere I'm going to go in and play, graduate, and get to the next level after college."
