Former junior college transfer Toure Boyd looks to provide depth for the Gamecocks at safety this season after taking a redshirt a year ago following his arrival from Chaffey CC.

The 5-foot-10, 195-pounder is originally from Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) High.

Running back Ty'Son Williams joined the program earlier this month as a transfer from North Carolina. Williams, who will sit out this season and take a redshirt due to NCAA guidelines, will be considered a redshirt sophomore next season.

The former three-star prospect originally joined the UNC program out of Sumter's Crestwood High.

Brad Edwards, who starred on Gamecock football teams from 1984-1987 and enjoyed a sterling nine-year career in the National Football League, also at one time served as senior associate athletics director for business and development at USC.

Edwards, who was tri-captain of Carolina's 1987 team that finished 8-4, played in the Gator Bowl and ended the year ranked 15th, has a variety of responsibilities in his role with the Gamecocks. His primary responsibilities are serving as the department's chief financial officer and overseeing the business office. He also is the department liaison to all the various agencies and licensees for The Colonial Center and for Williams-Brice Stadium. This includes marketing and multi-media, concessions, and arena management companies. Edwards' other responsibilities include the securing of major financial gifts for the department, as well as the sale of executive skyboxes in The Colonial Center and in Williams-Brice Stadium.

Edwards was an All-America free safety his senior year in 1987. A two-year starter for the Gamecocks, he led the 1987 club with 130 total tackles and eight interceptions. Edwards was a second round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 1988 NFL draft. He went on to enjoy a nine-year career in the professional ranks, playing for Minnesota, Atlanta, and Washington. He was a starter and defensive co-captain on Washington's Super Bowl XXVI championship team in 1991, runner-up MVP in Super Bowl XXVI, and was selected to USA Today's All-Pro team following the 1992 season.

Edwards retired from the NFL in 1997 and spent five years working in the financial services business during and after his NFL career.

Edwards earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from South Carolina in 1988. Brad is a graduate of the Sports Management Institute. He has two sons: Jackson (14), and Thomas Walker (12).
