SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS FOOTBALL

After hearing all week Dakereon Joyner would play quarterback, the Gamecocks' redshirt freshman didn't wait long to make an impact Saturday.

In his first series at quarterback against Charleston Southern, Joyner led the Gamecocks on a three-play touchdown drive where he ultimately scored the team's third touchdown of the day.

Joyner ripped off a massive run in his first play at quarterback of the day, bouncing outside on an option play to the tune of 41-yards before punching it in two plays later on a six-yard scamper.

He's now at three carries on the day for 47 yards and has one reception for 12 yards and a first down. He's averaging 15.7 yards per carry.

The Gamecocks are currently up 21-3 on Charleston Southern with Ryan Hilinski getting the start and Joyner coming in for spot series as well.

Hilinski started his day completing the first 12 attempts of the day and throwing for 103 yards in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown.
