Damien Wright commits to USC

According to sources familiar with his recruiting, Sumter (S.C.) Crestwood safety Damien Wright committed to South Carolina this morning during an unofficial visit to the campus. We hope to reach the 6-foot-2, 190-pound safety sometime today to find out why he chose the Gamecocks.
Wright may be the top pure safety prospect in the state. As a junior, he earned all-state honors, registering 112 tackles, six sacks and one interception.

He chose South Carolina over offers from Clemson, Vanderbilt and Duke and was also being recruited by Georgia, Georgia Tech, NC State. Coach Rick Stockstill is his recruiter for the Gamecocks.
