Edwards was at one time committed to South Carolina, but reopened his recruitment following the departure of Steve Spurrier and most of his assistant coaching staff.
Edwards, who has familial connections to Clemson, took a visit to see the Tigers last month.
Edwards took an official visit to South Carolina over the weekend and said that he was torn between the Gamecocks and Tigers afterward.
"Probably just hanging out with Coach (Will) Muschamp, hanging out with (host) Deebo (Samuel), just having a good time and just really enjoying myself and enjoying the process," Edwards described as the highlights of the trip.
One of Edwards' biggest questions has been how he would be used in the Carolina offense and he says new offensive coordinator Kurt Roper was able to describe that in detail.
"I got a great feel," Edwards said. "I sat down and talked with Coach Roper and Coach Muschamp. We just talked football and talked offense and stuff like that. I feel like I'm a versatile player who can fit in a lot of systems, so I'm real comfortable with the fit. (Roper) was just telling me it's obviously a high-tempo offense with a lot of moving around and stuff like that, taking advantage of defenses and finding mismatches."
Edwards is ranked the No. 20 athlete in the country by Rivals.com and the No. 4 prospect in the state of South Carolina.
