Elliott Fry sets school record for career points

Add Elliott Fry's name to one more South Carolina school record. The senior kick notched his 331st career point, passing kicker Colin Mackie's record set in 1990. Mackie played from 1987-90.

The place kicker nailed a field goal with 7:25 left in the first quarter to tie the record and set the record with an extra point after a nice Rico Dowdle touchdown grab with 8:39 left in the first half.

"I knew on the extra point that was the one. I was obviously pretty cool," Fry said. "I was staying focused until it went through then I got excited and let it all out a little bit."

Fry also has the school records for PATs made in a season (54) and in career PATs made with 146 and PATs attempted (147). He's also second in school history with field goals made (61), attempted (82) and field goal percentage (74.4 percent).

Fry has 47 points this year (nine field goals, 20 PATs) with the remainder of Saturday's game against Missouri left and three regular season games afterwards against Florida, Western Carolina and Clemson.

No matter if he scores again this season, the turnstile on the west side near the student section will have to be repainted.

"It means a lot. It's pretty special. Coming into Williams-Brice every Saturday and looking up at all the names up there is really special. Whether I'm on there for a couple years or a really long time, any amount of time I'm up there is pretty special."
