Final pieces of 2017 class set to enroll this month

The wait is almost over for a few Gamecock commitments not on campus yet. Will Muschamp announced Thursday morning at SEC Media Days that 2017 signees Keisean Nixon, Jordon Carty and Jordan Rhodes will all be on campus by the end of the month.

“We expect all of them to report with us July 30 at this time,” he told local reporters before Thursday’s SEC Media Day events started.

The trio will arrive one day before practice is scheduled to begin. Muschamp said the first day of practice in preparation for the 2017-18 season will be July 31.

Nixon was a highly-recruited cornerback out of Arizona Western Community College and chose South Carolina over SEC East rival Tennessee.

Carty, an offensive lineman from Hollywood, FL will arrive on campus with Nixon and is rated the No. 68 overall offensive tackle in the 2017 class and a three-star prospect.

The last of the trio, Rhodes, is a two-star tackle and will arrive on campus as camp is set to begin as well.

Muschamp also said Thursday there are no academic or injury issues that will keep any of the team’s players out at the start of camp.
