Will Muschamp continued showing that he plans to make top Palmetto State prospects a priority early and often with an offer he made on Monday afternoon.
Bluffton's Cameron Bent, a 6-foot, 178-pounder, picked up his first offer from the in-state Gamecocks.
"Coach (Ken) Cribb called me and told me to call the number. As soon as I called him they offered," Bent told GamecockCentral.com. "He told me that he liked my highlight and he said that they love speed. That's what they need at their program. He said I would like to offer you a full scholarship. I told him I appreciated the offer."
Bent is still in the infant stages of building a relationship with Muschamp and the staff in Columbia, but the early impressions were positive.
"He seemed like a funny, cool coach to talk to," he said.
Bent believes that he best projects as a slot wide receiver at the next level, where he can use his open field speed to make big plays. USC will receive a visit at some point soon after the dead period ends.
"I'm looking at the tutoring and academics and stuff," he said, addressing what he hopes to find in a program. "I'm trying to go out and see some schools. I'm visiting South Carolina next month on a Saturday."
Bent hopes to hear in the future from Florida and Georgia. In limited action last season, he was able to make a substantial impact as a junior.
"I tore my ACL and had surgery so I couldn't play the last four games. Within those games I had 15 touchdowns and 860 something yards. I'm walking good and stuff now."
