Four star commits

Despite Steve Spurrier stepping down as South Carolina's head coach, the Gamecocks have picked up a verbal commitment from a four-star, Rivals250 defensive tackle.

According to Rivals.com's Andrew Bone, Alabama product Darius Whitfield made a verbal commitment to South Carolina on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-1, 268-pounder is ranked as the country's 18th-best defensive tackle prospect and checks in at no. 179 in the Rivals250.
