Game balls

A look at top performances and players that deserve "game balls" following a 13-10 Gamecocks road win over Vanderbilt.

Bryan Edwards

The four-star recruit lived up to the hype. He finished with eight catches for 101 yards and got stronger as the game went on. He also threw the key block on Deebo Samuel's touchdown run, taking out two defenders to give Samuel the edge.

AJ Turner

It was an uneasy start for Turner, who nearly botched the opening kickoff by starting out of the end zone before taking a knee and then had a run called back on a holding penalty. But the redshirt freshman bounced back from the early nerves with a productive game. He had a couple of nice runs and a good catch in the fourth quarter and finished with 13 carries for 70 yards and was the second-leading receiver with three catches for 27 yards.

Qua Lewis

Lewis had three straight tackles to end Vanderbilt's penultimate drive. Vanderbilt had to settle for a go-ahead field goal attempt, which it missed. The miss set up Carolina's game-winning drive. He finished with a team-high seven tackles and a quarterback hurry.

Bryson Allen-Williams

Allen-Williams only had one tackle, but he made his presence felt all over the field. He was solid in coverage, against the run, and as a pass rusher.

Sean Kelly

Kelly punted seven times. He only averaged 39.9 yards per punt, but he had kicks downed at the seven, seven, and nine-yard line. His precise kicking was crucial in the first half when the Gamecock offense was ineffective.
