South Carolina landed a commitment from Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab three-star wide receiver/cornerback Tre Jackson on Saturday night.

The three-star prospect, who plays both ways in high school but projects as a wide receiver at USC, originally eyed a commitment date on July 25. He was set on the Gamecocks, and pulled the trigger earlier than expected.
"I just felt like there was no point in waiting any longer," the Louisiana product told GamecockCentral.com. "I had already made my decision."
Jackson was on USC's campus for the Gamecock Showcase at the end of last month, picking up an offer and subsequently placing Carolina ahead for him for good.
"Just really the family feel," he said of why he chose USC. "They made me feel at home and what they can do for me on and off the field. It's a 40-year plan, not a four year plan. I talked to both Spurrier Jr. and Spurrier Sr. and they were very excited about it."
Jackson has a unique connection to South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier. Jackson's father, Jack Jackson, played receiver for Spurrier at Florida from 1992-94.
The younger Jackson chose the Gamecocks over a final group that included Oklahoma, Kansas State, North Carolina and Utah.
What will he bring to the field?
"Just a lot of versatility. I can play all the spots on the field, stretch the field and make big plays."
