Gamecocks commit invited to Rivals 5-star Challenge

Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Siegel four-star offensive tackle Maxwell Iyama was named one of the top performers at the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp in St. Louis this past weekend.

On Thursday the 6-foot-6, 280-pounder was rewarded for his performance with an invite to the Rivals 5-star Challenge in Indianapolis from June 9-12.

A converted basketball player, Iyama continues to become more effective as an offensive lineman with the more weight he adds to his frame. He worked at both guard and tackle, and his versatility is one of the reasons the Gamecocks were so high on him to begin with. Iyama is good now but it’s clear his best days are still ahead of him.

Iyama chose the Gamecocks over offers from Georgia, Louisville, Memphis, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Tennessee in April.
