The Gamecocks will likely have two starters coming back this week for the Wofford game after both didn't play the majority of the Florida game.

Shi Smith, who was poked in the eye Saturday, is expected to return to practice this week and play Saturday against the Terriers, Will Muschamp said on his weekly teleconference.

The true freshman will see an ophthalmologist Monday and the coaching staff is expecting to be on the field come 4 p.m. Saturday.

D.J. Smith is also expected to resume practicing and play this week after missing the entirety of the Florida game despite dressing.

He's nursing a hip pointer he suffered against Georgia and was held out Saturday. He went through pregame warmups but was ultimately ruled out and didn't play.

Muschamp said the coaches are hoping he'll be able to return this week, but if he can't then it'll likely be Steven Montac manning the primary safety role against Wofford.

Dante Sawyer is nursing a hip and groin injury but "felt good," Muschamp said.
