Gamecocks in the Pros: Aug. 22-28

MLB

--Jackie Bradley Jr. has hit a bit of a slide for Boston. Last week he went 4-for-22 (.181), including a double, with two runs and a RBI. He's hitting .188 in August.

--Steve Pearce went 3-for-14 (.214) for Baltimore, including a double and a RBI. This month he's batting .257 with an OPS of .790 while also battling through an elbow injury.

--Justin Smoak, who's hitting primarily in a pinch-hitter role for Toronto, went 4-for-6 (.667) with a three-run home run, three runs scored and five RBIs.

--Sam Dyson made two appearances for Texas, pitching two scoreless innings and allowing one hit. He picked up saves in both scenarios, bringing his save total to 29.

Triple-A

--Christian Walker batted 8-for-29 (.276) with the Norfolk Tides (Baltimore) with four runs and two RBIs. He's hitting .317 over the last nine days.

--Michael Roth started one game for the Round Rock Express (Texas), giving up one earned run in seven innings. He picked up the win allowing just seven hits and striking out four. His ERA this season is 2.86.

--Bryan Harper remains on the 7-day disabled list for the Syracuse Chiefs (Washington). He last pitched Aug. 6.

--Whit Merrifield hit 6-for-24 (.250) for the Omaha Storm Chasers (Kansas City) with three runs and two RBIs.

--Jordan Montgomery's dominance continues for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Yankees). He had a no-hitter through four innings before a hit to start the fifth inning, finishing with 5.2 innings of scoreless baseball. He hasn't given up an earned run in four starts and has eight strikeouts in his last three appearances. In Triple-A, his ERA is 0.58.

--Tyler Webb made three appearances for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Yankees) totaling 4.2 innings and giving up three earned runs on eight hits. He picked up a win Sunday, brining his record to 1-2.

Double-A

--Peter Mooney hit 7-for-25 (.280) for the Jacksonville Suns (Miami) with a home run, five runs and five RBIs.

--Evan Marzilli hit 1-for-17 (.059) for the Mobile BayBears (Arizona) with three runs and a RBI. He hitting .077 since Aug. 8 and hasn't had a hit in his last five games.

--Joel Seddon started one game for the Midland RockHounds (Oakland), pitching six shutout innings and giving up only six hits. He picked up the win (6-2) and has a 2.04 ERA since July 7.

--Grayson Greiner hit 9-for-21 (.429) for the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit) with four runs, three RBIs and a home run. Over the last two weeks he's hitting .450.

--Evan Beal made one appearance for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City), pitching two innings and giving up two earned runs. He had a walk and a strikeout.

Single-A Advanced

--Kyle Martin hit 6-for-25 (.240) for the Clearwater Threshers (Philadelphia) with two home runs, four runs scored and five RBIs.

--Tanner English went 8-for-22 (.364) for the Fort Meyers Miracle (Minnesota) with two runs and a RBI.

--LB Dantzler (Dunedin Blue Jays/Toronto) and Joey Pankake (Lakeland Flying Tigers/Detroit) are both on the 7-day disabled list.

--Max Schrock went 4-for-7 for the Potomac Nationals (Washington) with two runs and two RBIs. He was traded Thursday to the Stockon Ports (Oakland) and went 1-for-5 in his only game so far.

--Jack Wynkoop started one game for the Modesto Nuts (Colorado), throwing six scoreless innings and giving up four hits. He struck out five and picked up the win. He's 7-1 this season.

--Taylor Widener picked up his first win for the Charleston RiverDogs (Yankees) Aug. 24, pitching three innings and giving up an earned run. He also struck out five. His ERA in Single-A Advanced is 1.20.

Single-A Short Season

--Dom Thompson-Williams went 3-for-4 (.750) for the Staten Island Yankees (Yankees). It was his first game since Aug. 18.

--Gene Cone hit 7-for-24 (.292) for the Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets) with four runs.

Rookie Season

--Matt Vogel pitched ones for the GCL Rays (Tampa Bay), throwing two scoreless and hitless innings. He walked two and struck out two.

--Marcus Mooney went 6-for-28 (.214) for the Danville Braves (Atlanta) with four runs and three RBIs.

--According to MiLB, Braden Webb still has yet to make a start for the AZL Brewers (Milwaukee).
