Gamecocks in the Pros: July 26-July 31

MLB

--Jackie Bradley Jr. went 4-for-22 (.182) with Boston with two home runs. He finishes July with a .298 average and a .839 OPS.

--Steve Pearce went 2-for-8 (.250) with Tampa Bay. He spent most of the month on the disabled list and hit .233. He was traded to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday.

--Justin Smoak hit 1-for-6 (.167) with a home run for Toronto. He finished July hitting .216.

--Sam Dyson had three appearances for Texas. He pitched three innings total, including two perfect ones. He earned two saves, bringing his total to 22 on the year, and picking up his most recent one Sunday.

Triple-A

--Christian Walker hit 5-for-25 (.200) for the Norfolk Tides (Baltimore) with four runs and a RBI. His average is up to .264 now.

--Michael Roth started one game for the Round Rock Express (Texas). He pitched seven innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits in a win. He's now 4-2 with Round Rock with a 2.42 ERA.

--Whit Merrifield, who was recently optioned to the Omaha Storm Chasers (Kansas City), hit .227 (5-for-22) with two RBIs and seven runs scored.

--Tyler Webb had one relief appearance for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRaiders (Yankees). He threw 1.1 innings and gave up one earned run on three hits. He struck out a batter. He picked up the loss and is 1-2 this year.

--Bryan Harper pitched three relief appearances for the Syracuse Chiefs (Washington). He totaled 3.1 innings, giving up six hits and one earned run. His ERA is 2.37 since being called up to Triple-A.

Double-A

--Evan Marzilli hit 1-for-16 (.063) for the Mobile BayBears (Arizona). He's hitting .097 since July 17.

--Joel Seddon started one game for the Midland RockHounds. He gave up six hits and four earned runs in 5.1 innings. He won the game and improves to 5-3 this year.

--Evan Beal had two relief appearances for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City). He gave up five earned runs and seven hits. He had three walks and three strikeouts.

--Peter Mooney hit 3-for-16 (.188) for the Jacksonville Suns (Miami). He had two RBIs and is hitting .161 since July 20.

--Grayson Greiner hit 3-for-10 (.300) for the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit) this week with an RBI.

--Jordan Montgomery started one game for the Trenton Thunder (Yankees). He pitched six shutout innings, giving up six hits. He struck out five in the win and imprvoes to 4-3 with a 2.55 ERA this season.

Single-A Advanced

--Kyle Martin hit 1-for-15 (.067) with the Clearwater Threshers (Philadelphia) with two runs and two RBIs. He's hitting .171 since July 18.

--Tanner English was removed from the Fort Meyers Miracle (Minnesota) disabled list and hit a home run in his first game back. He finished the game 1-for-2 (.500) with three RBIs and a run.

--LB Dantzler hit 6-for-18 (.333) with three runs and three RBIs. He's on a five-game hitting streak and is hitting .333 since July 7.

--Joey Pankake hit 2-for-18 (.111) for the Lakeland Flying Tigers (Detroit).

--Jack Wynkoop started one game for the Modesto Nuts (Colorado). He finished with five earned runs on seven hits in five innings. He also struck out five batters and was credited with the loss.

Single-A Short Season

--Taylor Widener pitched once for the Staten Island Yankees (Yankees), pitching three innings of shutout baseball, giving up one hit. He didn't allow a run in Staten Island and was called up to Single-A Advanced Charleston RiverDogs and will make his first appearance Monday.

--Dom Thompson-Williams hit 7-for-14 (.500) for the Staten Island Yankees (Yankees) and had four runs and five RBIs. He's hitting .308 since July 19.

--Gene Cone hit 3-for-16 (.188) for the Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets). He hit his first career home run July 29 and scored five runs this week.

Rookie Season

--Marcus Mooney hit 5-for-25 (.200) for the Danville Braves (Atlanta) with eight runs and a RBI. He's batting .281 since coming into rookie ball.

--Matt Vogel had one appearance for GCL Rays (Tampa Bay). He pitched three perfect innings. He's 2-1 in rookie season with a 3.68 ERA.

--Braden Webb has yet to make an appearance for the AZL Brewers.
