Gamecocks move up in polls

South Carolina (34-11, 12-9) rose to No. 9 in the Baseball America rankings released today after defeating Davidson and USC-Upstate in midweek games and winning the weekend SEC series from then-SEC overall leader Alabama.

In the Perfect Game USA poll, the Gamecocks are ranked No. 8, up two spots.
Previous Gamecock opponents who are ranked in the Baseball America poll include No. 5 Florida, No. 11 Ole Miss, No. 12 Alabama and No. 25 Kentucky.
South Carolina has the week off for exams before heading to Athens to play Georgia on Friday at 7 p.m.
