South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson's defense led the SEC in takeaways in 2017, a certain result of their consistent preaching about getting the football, one of the pillars of their defensive philosophy.

So, there's no surprise that the Gamecocks have extended an offer to Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central safety EJ Jackson.

A quick look at Jackson's highlight video (shown below) shows why as it starts with six interceptions in a row.

"I was surprised," Jackson said of the offer. "That's two in two days. I talked to Will Muschamp and to the defensive coordinator. He was pretty impressed with my film. He was shocked with how many interceptions I had."

Muschamp and Robinson offered the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder on Friday morning.

"It's a great atmosphere up there and I know it's a good program," Jackson said. "Muschamp sends DBs and safeties to the next level after college. I think I would be a great fit there."

Jackson also has an offer from Louisville.

"My cousin is committed there," Jackson said. "The coach said he would love to have me there and I know that since some guys are going to the league this year they might be short on the depth chart."

South Carolina and Louisville are also battling it out for Jackson's older cousin, class of 2018 defensive end Jarrett Jackson.

The older Jackson has been committed to Louisville since August, but has emerged as one of Muschamp's top overall targets in the class. Jarrett Jackson has taken official visits to both schools and will announce a decision on Dec. 20.
