The recruiting process is off to a fast start for Bogart (Ga.) Prince Avenue Christian class of 2020 quarterback Max Johnson.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder already has five offers to his name with South Carolina the latest program to jump in.

"I'm not really sure, I've never been really down there, but I know they've got a great program," Johnson said. "They started a freshman [quarterback] this year and had a great year. They've got awesome coaches. I bet they've got a great energy down there and a great atmosphere. It's a great school to go to."

Johnson says he spoke to both head coach Will Muschamp and co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Kurt Roper on the phone when he got the news of the offer earlier this week.

"It fits my style because I'm a pro-style quarterback but I can run around if I need to," Johnson said. "South Carolina fits my style perfectly. He's a great competitor. Coach Muschamp is a great coach. He loves his kids and he'd do anything for them. Coach Roper, I had an awesome first impression. He's a great coach. It was nice ot meet both of them and I'm looking forward to having a relationship with them and South Carolina.

Johnson plans to visit South Carolina, likely this summer.

The son of former NFL quarterback Brad Johnson, Max Johnson also holds offers from FSU, Georgia, LSU and Miami.

"I'm of course looking for the right fit, the right style," he says. "I'm looking for coaches that are great coaches, care about you, sacrifice I guess. Just the right fit and I'm looking forward to working hard and hopefully playing at that level one day."
