Gamecocks offer in-state forward who averaged double-double

Less than a week after offering an in-state guard in the 2021 class, the Gamecocks extended another to a fast-rising forward from a familiar high school.

The Gamecocks offered 2021 forward Cesare Edwards, a three-star power forward from Hartsville (S.C.) High School.

Edwards is a former teammate of current Gamecock Trae Hannibal, who graduated from Hartsville as part of the 2021 class.

The 6-foot-10, 200-pound forward has picked up a host of high-major schools in recent weeks with Xavier, Virginia Tech, Clemson and VCU all offering the in-state prospect.

As a junior Edwards averaged a double-double, averaging 15.5 points and 12.7 rebounds per game and 2.6 blocks.

He shot 44 percent from the field.

This offer comes less than a week after the Gamecocks offered 2021 guard Jacobi Wright out of Legacy (S.C.) Charter in Greenville.
