Gamecocks offer local lineman

Chapin (S.C.) class of 2018 offensive lineman Hank Manos landed an offer from new South Carolina offensive line coach Eric Wolford on Tuesday morning.

"I called Coach Wolford this morning," Manos told GamecockCentral.com. "He was in a meeting with Coach Muschamp. He handed the phone over to Coach Muschamp and he said he wanted to offer me a scholarship to the University of South Carolina.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound Manos also has offers from N.C. State and Georgia State, where former USC offensive line coach Shawn Elliott is now the head coach.

"I was very excited," he said of the USC offer. "It means a lot to me, especially growing up here right next to Columbia."

The Midlands product has been on South Carolina's campus more than once before and been able to get a look at the campus and facilities.

"I love the facilities. That indoor practice facility is really nice, I've been there a couple times. I've been in the locker room once or twice."

Since Wolford's arrival in Columbia, Manos has had a chance to connect with the veteran coach and to begin building a relationship with him.

"I think he's a great addition and there are big things coming for that program. I'm very excited for the future," Manos said.

Chapin class of 2017 tight end Will Register is already committed to the Gamecocks and will sign with the school next week. Manos noted that he hopes to visit NC State, Georgia State, and South Carolina again in the spring. He was also recently invited to visit Clemson.

There are no public leaders at this time for Manos, who does not have a set decision time frame in mind.

"I'm definitely looking for a strong coaching staff, good facilities, and education," he said. "That's probably the biggest thing."
