Hilton Head (S.C.) High class of 2022 linebacker Jaylen Sneed is the latest in-state prospect to land an offer from South Carolina football, with his head coach B.J. Payne announcing the news on Twitter Thursday.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Sneed has seen his recruitment blow up in recent months as he's landed offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Tech, Florida, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Wake Forest.
Sneed visited South Carolina for a junior day earlier this year before he coronavirus shut down sports.
The spring evaluation period would have begun this week and the South Carolina coaching staff Tweeted out that they would be virtually checking up on their in-state territories this week.
New linebackers coach Rod Wilson, a former Gamecocks linebacker himself, checked in on his Lowcountry area and an offer was delivered to Sneed.
Sneed is the fifth in-state 2022 prospect to land an offer from the Gamecocks, joining Hammond's C.J. Stokes, Greer's Jaleel Skinner, Seneca's E.J. Evett and Mauldin's Jeadyn Lukus.
