Hutcherson gives details on future

Huntingdon (Tennessee) three-star prospect Sadarius Hutcherson committed to South Carolina in the middle of December, and on Friday arrived in Columbia to take his official visit to USC.

The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder spoke with his future head coach, Will Muschamp, who laid out his plans for Hutcherson’s future.

“He told me he can’t wait for me to get down here in June,” Hutcherson said on Sunday. “He said I have a lot of development to my position, gain some weight and get ready.”

Hutcherson, hosted on the trip by offensive lineman Donell Stanley, got a closer look at the campus and had plenty of food on the trip. He also had a chance to get to know some of his future teammates better.

“We visited the campus, it’s a pretty big campus. We ate a lot, for sure. What I really did other than visit was I actually created a bond with some of the players and stuff. All of us are commits and we all acted like brothers.”

Hutcherson is currently in the 240-pound range, with the USC staff eyeing getting him up to at least 270 pounds initially. His frame and skill set could allow for him to play linebacker, defensive end, tight end, or offensive tackle at the next level. USC believes Hutcherson is an offensive tackle long-term.

“A lot of schools are recruiting me as a defensive lineman. South Carolina, they want me to be like a tight end. I don’t mind tight end. He told me offensive side of the ball. I don’t mind playing offense, but they both (Muschamp and Shawn Elliott) know that I love defense. I know for a fact that they’ll try me at defense just in case.”

Will an opportunity to play on the other side of the ball sway Hutcherson in his decision to attend USC?

“Not really," he answered. "What I’m trying to do for my decision is I’m making sure it’s a good home for me and act like a family.”

Hutcherson has a visit scheduled for next weekend to Memphis that he intends to take. That leaves one more weekend for a final official visit.

“Illinois wants me to come, North Carolina State or Virginia Tech,” Hutcherson said regarding where he may opt to go on that final weekend. “They all want me but it’s a decision between me and my family to see which one we want to go to.”

Although two more programs will receive visit from Hutcherson, he liked what he saw out of Columbia over the weekend.

“Right now, I’m pretty solid. As of today, this whole official visit, I talked to a lot of players and we all just bonded,” he explained.
