In-state WR reveals commitment to Gamecocks

One of South Carolina's silent commits has been revealed.

Summerton (S.C.) Clarendon Hall class of 2022 wide receiver Kylic Horton announced his pledge to the Gamecocks on Saturday night.

The Clarendon Hall class of 2022 wide receiver landed an offer from South Carolina earlier this June after an impressive camp performance.

"I was excited but I couldn't show it," Horton said at the time. "It's my dream school, home town. I love it. He said he loved the way I play. He said he loved me and he's offering me a full scholarship to attend South Carolina."

Horton is the type of prospect that the summer camp season is made for and that may have been left under the radar during the COVID-19 pandemic that canceled camps last offseason.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pounder took full advantage of his opportunity at South Carolina, checking off explosive times in the testing portion of his workout and then returning the next day for a second straight day of impressive work in the 1-on-1s to land an offer.

Since landed an offer from South Carolina, Horton also added scholarships from Virginia Tech and Coastal Carolina.

Horton plays quarterback, receiver and defensive back on Clarendon Hall's eight-man football team but earned the Carolina offer after excelling at wide receiver.

One of the standouts of the trip was working with receivers coach Justin Stepp.

"I think Coach Stepp is a great coach," Horton said. "He's honest. He's going to tell if you're doing something wrong and he's going to tell you if you're doing something right. And that's the kind of coach I like."

Horton left thoroughly impressed with the Gamecocks facilities.

"It's nice, man," Horton said. "Everything about it is nice. I love it."

Horton is the ninth public commitment to South Carolina's 2022 class and first wide receiver.

He is the seventh commitment this week with five of those pledges public and two still silent.
