Jake Bentley did something Saturday that only a handful of other quarterbacks in school history have done.

On the Gamecocks' second drive of the night, Bentley became just the eighth quarterback in school history to throw for 5,000 yards in his career.

The milestone came in the first quarter of the team's game against Kentucky, finding Shi Smith for a four-yard gain on South Carolina's first scoring drive.

Bentley now has 5,001 career passing yards and is just 390 yards behind Dylan Thompson for eighth all-time.

He joins Todd Ellis, Steve Taneyhill, Stephen Garcia, Connor Shaw, Blake Mitchell, Anthony Wright, Phil Petty and Thompson as the only quarterbacks to do that.

Bentley has 794 yards so far this season with three quarters left to go against Kentucky and has tossed six touchdowns compared to three interceptions this year.
