The loss snapped a 37 game win streak at Carolina Stadium for the Gamecocks against non-conference opponents. That includes the 2013 Columbia Regional. The last loss prior to Charleston Southern at Carolina Stadium against a non-conference opponent was versus Liberty on February 17, 2013. Liberty defeated Carolina 3-2 in a seven inning game. That was the second game of a Sunday double header.

Losing to Charleston Southern and The Citadel
* Gamecocks are 20-2 against non-conference opponents this season.
* The two losses are the first non-conference regular season games they lost back to back since doing it in 2012 against Francis Marion (4-5) and College of Charleston (3-4). Both of those games were played on the road and were played surrounding an SEC series against Mississippi State.
* The last time USC lost back-to-back non-conference games without an SEC game in between was in 2011 when Carolina lost game three of the series to CSU Bakersfield 8-3 in Columbia and then lost 4-2 to Furman in Greenville.
Gamecocks and The Citadel
* The 10-8 loss to The Citadel was Carolina's first to the Bulldogs since losing 2-0 on April 12, 2011 in Charleston.
